About Lakeland Ops

Lakeland Ops is a support operations consultancy specialising in building, stabilising, and scaling technical support and support-adjacent functions. It is founded and led by Alan Porthouse, a senior technical support leader with over 15 years’ experience operating and scaling support teams within growing organisations.

Alan has spent his career working with startups, scale-ups, and enterprises, creating support and support-adjacent functions from the ground up and strengthening existing ones as businesses grow. This has included establishing support operations where none existed, stabilising teams under pressure, and scaling service desks to meet increasing customer and internal demand. His work has consistently focused on ensuring support meets real operational and commercial needs.

Lakeland Ops was created to provide practical operational leadership without the overhead or dependency of a permanent hire. Engagements focus on how the business operates day to day and what is required from support in practice. The aim is to deliver a support function with a clear structure, effective oversight, and the capability for teams to run and develop it independently.

Lakeland Ops works with growing businesses that need their support operation to keep pace with demand, complexity, and customer expectations, and want experienced leadership to make that happen.
